Lamanya....

.... saya tak update this blog... antara sebab-sebabnya adalah sibuk (lah kunun) dan malas (yang sebenarnya).  Sometime last week, a good friend of mine ada e-mail tanya... ain... kenapa lama tak hupdate blog?? I jawab... malas la zaidah...

.... and this week.... today.... I pun start my first ever entry for this year 2011.!

.... esok holiday CNY... we all adik-beradik dah plan lama dah nak balik rumah mak and nak buat BBQ.

 Yahoo... bestnya... lama tak berBBQ ni...

... as usual, we all dah pakat-pakat bahagi-bahagikan tugas... my part... I have to prepare all the chicken things... Angah... all the lamb and side dish things... Lofty... salad and the fish things...  Adik?... this time... I think she can't do much sebab dah ada baby!... Adik... kau mesti sibuk dgn anak je nanti... hihihi... macam kita orang dulu-dulu...

Wedding preparation...

Of course it's not mine... I've been married to my beloved husband for 17 years this coming August. Right now if you were to ask me what's the project for 2010... I would give a list of to do things for the upcoming Adik's majlis nikah on 26 March 2010.

My new year of 2010 began with the Majlis Bertunang of my youngest sister on the 2nd January 2010. Asalnya pihak lelaki nak datang merisik dulu... tapi last minute they decided to make it as bertunang as well. We, pihak perempuan, complaint almost nothing but agreed. We rushed to Nilai 3 for the hantarans. Thinking of it, bagus jugak, sebab it been years since my first trip to Nilai 3. We (me and almost all in the family, including our children and adik and fiance-to-be) had fun in Nilai 3 in fact.

Our cousin, Kak Ah was sooo kind to hand her expertise to help us with the hantarans. So, we can concentrated on the bertunang menu. Percaya tak, we all masak sendiri kat rumah and tak de langsung menempah. The majlis was held at about 4.30 p.m and the menu was:

.

1. Roti Jala (my brother, Lofty and his wife yang 'menjala' and later other cousins pun tolong)

2. Kari Ayam (of course! I was the cook - 1 periuk besar - almost 4 ekor ayam!)

3. Fried Meehoon with Prawn (Adik her self the fiancee-to-be yang menggoreng - 2 kuali besar tau!!)

4. Kuih muih (makcik Kamsah yang buat - karipap and pulut seri muka - sodap !!)

5. Dessert - Agar-agar santan (prepared by kak Ah - super sedap !!)

6. Hot drink - tea

7. Fruit - omg, we forgotten!!

.

All the above were for about over 70 peoples and the bertunang favors were a small pouch of chocolates. Overall, the majlis turned out Alhamdulillah OK, enough food, even for tapau and everyone was happy especially Adik!

while Hajar and mama, we had sotong masak kicap and nasi putih... yummy.... babah?... he's not at home... he's in Penang... that was why I masak satu lauk je...

On Sunday, me and my other siblings, Angah and Lofty, actually, we had planned this earlier, berhari raya ke rumah our two cousins, one in Seri Rampai, Setapak and the other cousin at nearby UIA area in Gombak. Huda, my youngest sister, could not make it as she was travelling up north to Lumut.

.

We ate nasi lemak and ada jugak pulut kuning in Setapak and we had Beehoon Sup Utara at the other cousin's. Sooooo yummy....... delicious... Thank you Kak Ah ...thank you Rohaya...

We have decided to regularly visit all our cousins in the Klang Valley in future for a more closer family ties. Eventhough our kampung is in Kedah but most of our relatives are around here. Maybe we should also plan to travel back there together to visit our other relatives.... Our new resolution for the coming new year .... perhaps....

I finally reached home by Maghrib and ada open house my neighbour la pulak. Came back from my neighbour's and I terus baring kat sofa kepenatan (and kekenyangan!) ... nak tengok CSIs pun tak larat lagi dah... naik atas terus tidur...

I baked bread pudding for dinner last night... pelik jugak having bread pudding for dinner... tapi my husband suka .... dia suka I lagilah suka sebab senang dan cepat... lagipun I ada kerja jahit-menjahit yang nak disiapkan last night tu jugak..

So after masukkan bread pudding tu dalam oven, I continued my unfinished beading for my baju kurung.. ada open house at office petang ni... nak lah pakai baju bermanik-manik gitu...

Pizza for dinner...

Yesterday, came back from work, singgah kedai, bought a few stuff for pizza toppings ... I already planned earlier, since kat office lagi, malas nak masak apa-apa...

Buat pizza je la... lagipun pizza base tu dah ada dlm fridge... apa lagi campakkan toppings, tabur mozzarella, masukkan dalam oven lebih kurang 10~15 minutes.... and ngap!!

Before prepare pizza, babah had already prepared his own chicken soup... he then celur mee kuning and sawi and taugeh... terus jadi mee soup.. the girls dah nampak pizza, mee soup babah terus tak laku lah nampaknya... except for Hajar, she ate the chicken only without the soup.

In Sweet Memories... Al-Fatihah

Hari ini, 20 Ramadhan genaplah setahun pemergian arwah my mother. At about this time, last year, as I was on the way to the hospital, I received a call from my father saying that my mother has just passed away....

I could still remember, how I cried and cried all my heart out... and so did everyone else inside the car.

.

Today, I sedekahkan Al-Fatihah for my beloved mother. May Allah s.w.t bless her and I will always miss her for the rest of my live.

Rasa bersalah...

Today, I got a phone call from Ayah... to tell the truth, I did not have any conversation with ayah since the kenduri. This is just not me.. it's not that I do not want to call him.. it's just that I suddenly felt so awkward, I do not know what to talk about or how to start the conversation..

.

He just said "lama tak dengar" then I heard myself was saying "sibuk sikit... last week pergi team building...bla..bla.. the girls sibuk dgn tuition and kelas tambahan .... bla...bla... (the excuses going on and on).. In between I asked him "ayah macamana? bla..bla.." The telephone conversation ended after 5 minutes.

I felt bad about myself.. I was not being myself... forgive me Ayah... I missed mak sooo much....

We were at rumah Angah the whole Sunday afternoon until 10 p.m.
.... we had coffee with kacip Fatimah while gossiping and surfing...

These photos were taken on Saturday the previous week. I just kept on holding this posting due to unforseen circumstances.. lack of spare time...

While I was in the kitchen preparing this Masak Lemak Telur Itik for lunch..

While Adik was busy with her inti karipap... satu kuali...

Why are we sooo 'happy' infront of the camera....

I started my Saturday by ironing 3 pairs of Baju Kurung and after light breakfast, off we go balik kampung. What was the occasion?? Nothing special to us actually... just that we were to be at a majlis kenduri at someone's house after Isyak prayer..

Angah and Adik were already at Rumah Mak since the previous night. When I arrived, they were busy distributing all the ingredients needed for cooking our lunch and for the dinner. We already planned beforehand to cook simple lunch for all of us. I was in charge of cooking the lunch. What did I cook? I cooked Lala Masak Sup, Ikan Cencaru Goreng Sambal and Masak Lemak Telur Itik (above photo).

Oh... I forgot to snap the Secret Recipe's Chocolate Cake and Carrot Cake... The carrot cake was for us to makan and the other one to be given away .. as a gift...

While I was preparing the lunch, Angah prepared for that nite's - Meehoon Sup Utara.. Adik was busy preparing the karipap filling (above photo)... No nasi for the kenduri at our house..

We were busy doing the makan preparation ... just for the sake of Ayah..

Why??? Simply because it was majlis nikah Ayah......

This is another book to add to my collections...

A motivational book by a local writer... I should have bought the first book... this is her second book... I have started reading... very interesting... 18 inspirational stories from ordinary life experiences...

Yesterday morning I was out quite early in the morning to do my groceries at the giant hypermarket in Senawang. Before entering the supermarket, we singgah at the MPH and Sarah grabbed Aku Mahu Buli by Ain Maisarah and Hajar was forced to take the Program Mudah Baca book 1-4. No coloring books this time. Hajar reluctantly agreed with me... For me... nothing... since nothing interest me... not much of choice here since the bookstore was small..

After we have done with the groceries, we rushed home. It was already 1.00 p.m. and Babah has to go for Friday prayer...

After Friday prayer, Angah called me saying that she was on her way from Bangi to balik kampung. The traffic was quite slow as everyone were rushing out the city.. She planned to singgah at Jusco, Seremban 2 for lunch as all her children only have breakfast before the journey. I agreed to meet her there and about 3 p.m. all of us except Babah were on our way.

We met up at infront of MPH bookstore.. This time I have to get something for myself... The girls, Angah's 4 girls and a son and mine 3 girls, altogether aged between 15 (Nadia) and 2 (Maryam). They (except for Nadia, Sarah and Haqim) ran happily playing hide-and-seek inside the bookstore and grabbed one princess activity book for each of themselves.. The mommies (me and Angah), Nadia and Sarah were busy browsing through all the shelves at our favourite sections..

Finally, I have to pay quite a handsome amount of money for all the selections made by me and my 3 girls (books as above). I got the Sanctuary by Nora Roberts, 500 Pai dan Tart by Rebecca Baugniet (translated to BM), a motivational book Life is an Open Secret - You, Me and We by Zabrina Abu Bakar, Cupcakes, Muffins and Scones by Azza Pawanchik and Nadia's a bunch of PMR books. Hope she would produce the best result she could... InsyaAllah... please pray for her success and our children success be it in education or in their lives...Amin....
